It’s been too long…

Posted by: Chace in Categories: Thoughts, Update.

Hello Everyone -

It’s been way to long since I have made a new blog post and just as long since I have worked on updating the site. For that I apologize! The last 6 months to a year have been busy. I bought a house last year and it has proven to drain my time, energy and bank account! I am not complaining by any means, but anyone who has purchased a repossessed home knows exactly what I am talking about. Plus, being a first time home owner I underestimated the amount of tools and items needed to have a house. From saws, rakes & lawnmowers to curtains, cleaners and light fixtures it seems like I’m close to having it all!

Aside from my home, my golf league has started on Monday nights, work at CIGNA has been busy as ever and I have picked up a few clients to do some design/development work for.

Least to say, I haven’t had much time to keep up with the site, but my plan is to change all that! I have so much to post about, but such little time. I am going to make a point to try to get at the least a simple post once a week. I also have a lot of new stuff to put on the various pages of the site including some new tutorials, a couple reviews, my new clients work when it’s complete and even a couple projects that are very close to being completed.

I hope that everyone is having a great start to their summer and are able to have a little fun now and again.

Look for new posts soon and thanks for continuing to visit Designs by Chace!

It’s that time again!

It is about 90 days away from this years March of Dimes. I did this last year for the first time, and was disappointed with the outcome. Yes I raised some money, and yes I did the walk, but the amount of money I raised I felt could have been more. I am all signed up again this year to walk on April 24th, so let’s see how round two ends up.

This really is a legitimate cause and event. If you don’t know what it is or why you should donate you can learn all you could possibly want to know on the Internet and here are some great resources as well:

There are also some people against the walk. Just like any topic there are two sides of the story and the debate. You can judge for yourself their stances:

I can understand both sides of the conflict. I have a dog named Ozkar. I can’t imagine he be used for ‘painful experiments’. I wouldn’t allow it. However, I would much rather have this be tested on rodents, rabbits, pigs & primates than sick baby Sean, or Lindsey, or Katie. I didn’t want to get too political, but it looks like it’s too late!

Speaking from experience, I know money is tight these days, at least for myself. So it is hard to give up money. You don’t have to give much. If $5 is all you have to give, give it! We can build on that!

Click here to donate what you can to help the babies…

10 Books Deal

Hi all. Just recently I realized a couple things about myself and my day to day habits. As you may know, I am a Computer Analyst for my ‘real’ job during the week & I am a freelance Web Designer and Programmer in my spare time, so to say I spend too much time on a computer is an understatement. When you throw in a heavy dose of Television, being the big sports fan I am, along with a Conan, Jimmy and Comedy Central fan, you could say that TV takes up a majority of my spare time. I do get to the gym, and walk my dog, along with the typical household chores, you know… laundry, dusting, vacuuming, dishes, trash and so on. However somewhere along the way something has gone amiss.

When I was in school I used to have my nose stuck in a textbook a lot. Mostly technical jargon, but I was reading none the less. I still thumb through a PHP or SQL book from time to time, but nothing like when getting my undergrad, and nothing that might inspire, teach or amaze me. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good programming book like the next geek, but when did I stop reading books for pleasure/knowledge/enlightenment? After realizing I don’t read near as much as I should, I made myself a promise. Read the entire post…

Commenters beware!

Hello All –

Just a quick post so you know if you’ve posted a comment here before and were wondering where your post might have gone, it is lost forever and is not coming back. After getting overwhelmed with spam posters and getting around 900 spam posts to moderate a week I decided to clear all the comments from all posts to do a couple things. One, reduce traffic from those ‘bots’ and ‘spammers’ who have posted here before. And two, clear up a lot of the bogus comments cluttering up not only the website but my database. Anyhow I will try to keep up with the comments and such from now on, but this had to be done.

I also updated the intro page to the site and made a quick update to the iTunes Tools download for 64-bit systems as well. I have been working on my ‘commenter’ for a lack of a better name and it’s coming along nicely, still have a few things I need to work out on it before its ready for some beta testing, the first place of which will be right here on my site.

Anyhow I am going to try to get some sleep before I get called for work again, I am on call this week. :(
